Deborah and I are those types of friends who can go for a month or so with very little contact, to then meeting again as if we hadn’t even been apart.
We tend to chat about all things life related – from our jobs to family, to future plans and men – it’s the ultimate ladies talk.
Some may call us a terrible twosome, others delightful angels – just catch us on a good day and you’ll soon know.
After a rather busy day running up and down Manchester for work and my Zumba class we decided to visit a well known Danish restaurant, Kro Bar in Piccadilly Gardens. I’ve made no secret of the fact I simply love their food – especially the amazing deals they have! So we rushed to get ready and ventured there for our dinner date – we’re saving our glad rags for this weekend’s antics.
As it’s a ‘school night’ I decided to stick with a blackcurrant juice so even though the menu was tempting me with a caipirinha, I had to politely decline. In my mind I thought it’s one more drink I can celebrate with for this weekend’s plans… or rather Miss D’s birthday!
But back to this evening… Whenever I’m in a restaurant, I always go for the first thing that catches my eye. In today’s case it was the delicious sea bass infused with Thai flavours on a bed of crunchy veg.
Deborah decided to have pork and leek sausages with gravy and onion rings – pure, stodgy pleasure!
In case you’re wondering, yesss I am one of those people who sits for a few moments in a restaurant taking photos of their food. I used to do so before I started blogging… and now I feel I can put my food photos to some use and become a real foodie.
However, I did receive some odd looks today – oh well, perhaps I should have offered them a chip?!
Soon after wolfing our dinners down and muttering the words “Oh, I’m so full!” we found ourselves looking at the desserts menu… Oops!
Deborah chose the blueberry cheesecake which was presented beautifully.
And as some of you may remember, one of my favourite desserts at Kro is their sticky toffee pudding – this time with ice cream!
My dinner date with Deborah was lovely and it was great to have a catch up with some fabulous food and lots of laughter.
Although, I wouldn’t mind another sticky toffee slab with more dollops of ice cream… Wouldn’t you?
I promise I’ll save you some! x
