How on earth is it September already? It only seems like a week ago I was getting excited for my trip to Romania and now two months have unnoticeably flown by and we are reaching for our winter coats…
Saying that, September is proving to be lots of fun and it looks like it is already shaping up to be a pretty busy month. Manchester is slowly starting to get back to its usual bustling state and old friends are returning back for another exciting year in the city.
I’ll be honest and say when I have to think back about what I’ve done the past week (or so), my memory actually fails me. It seems the weeks have just blurred into each other and I’m starting to even wonder what I did yesterday – however this may be due to one too many mojitos!
As well as a crazy week in work which started last Monday with a fire alarm continuously going off for 2 hours, I’ve started some interesting projects which I’m really looking forward to.
Outside of work, I’ve been hopping, running and dancing my way around the city. My week started with a run accompanied by my friend, Marian, to our local park which actually ended in us running to the nearest Subway for a big snack (ooops!). Over the past few weeks I’ve been sticking to a fitness plan which involves my beloved Zumba classes, some great YouTube videos and running. I definitely think I’ve caught some type of fitness bug as the feeling of achievement that you managed to pull through a tough workout is incredible. Perhaps I should have thought about this before my holiday – but better late than never!
The past week has also involved a fair bit of dancing. On Thursday I met up with some friends and went to our favourite salsa club for the final summer party – it was so nice to catch-up and dance the night away. Despite feeling a little tired the next day in work, some Nutella and a McDonalds lunch (with extra chicken nuggets) certainly helped me to get the Friday feeling – but not so great for the healthy lifestyle plan!
Last night I met Deborah for a long-awaited dinner date – we went to Artisan, a great restaurant/bar in Spinningfields and enjoyed delicious food and cocktails. After dinner we went to a salsa club for a dancing class which was so much fun and a great way to spend time together. However, the evening soon turned into a night packed with spins and quick-stepping with friends before returning home at 5.30 am with very sore feet!
But don’t worry, a Nutella sandwich and cup of tea helped with the pain this morning!

As mentioned in my last post, I love finding and rediscovering music from all around the world and so I thought I’d share with you my favourite songs this week:
- Maitre Gims – Bella – I promise you won’t be able to not dance to this song! Beautiful introduction and great rhythm throughout.
- Lana Del Rey – Queen of Disaster – I keep discovering more amazing music from Lana Del Rey and here is just one of them. This song has a real retro vibe and no matter what mood you find yourself in, you will end up spinning like a ballerina.
- Carla Bruni – Queleu-un m’a dit – Simply beautiful, I love her unique and elegant voice – pure talent.
- Drake – Started From The Bottom – My gym song… and yes I do pretend to be Drake.
