Birthday Burgers at Gorilla

The weekend is almost over and what a frankly amazing and tiring one it has been.

As mentioned earlier in the week, it was my friend Deborah’s birthday celebrations last night. She decided to go to Gorilla,  a retro bar and kitchen which in my opinion serves the best burgers and fries in Manchester.

We kick started the night with a few cocktails  – a Prickly Bramble for Deborah and Mojitos ahoy for me! Whereas the guys had Red Stripe, a Jamaican and vintage looking lager.

Soon after our hysterics with Norm’s one liners and the excitement of present giving, it was time to get serious with our orders… Or in Josh’s case, to look very happy with the menu!

The specials sounded amazing and I was this tempted to order the chargrilled chicken, however after I read the burger menu I swear my mouth was actually watering!

How does a herbed lamb burger with a toasted brioche bun, aioli, red onion chutney and butterhead lettuce leaves with seriously seasoned fries sound? Amazing? Or ahhhmazing?! I think you get the picture.

Our excitement soon returned after ordering and as the cocktails began to flow things went from seemingly normal…

…  To quite the opposite! Rrrrrrrr!

Anyways, now onto the mighty epic stuff… OUR BURGERS!!

I’m not kidding when I say this but with every bite it got better and better…

The entire burger oozed so much flavour. From the sweet brioche bun to the red onion chutney and aged cheddar – the flavours were simply sensational. We were advised by our amazing waiter, Deano, the burgers are best served slightly pink as in burger terms apparently this helps all of juices to combine together. Well, I totally believe him.

Then it was time to dig in and smother the golden fries in ketchup, plus a scatter of salt…

I guess just one photo of a burger is never enough, right?

After we were suitably stuffed, it was time for another drinks order and playtime soon began once again!

After dinner I snuck away to find Deano to ask if they could make Deborah’s dessert even more special by adding a little birthday touch to it. Well, scroll down now to see the reaction…

That is if you’re not swooned by the baked vanilla cheesecake and eton mess (or ‘eat and mess‘ as Sam likes to say!) along your way…

Hip-hip hooray!

After a great meal with amazing food and drinks, we had a round of Jägermeister and toasted to Deborah.
We then headed to the Northern Quarter to explore the coolest part of the city with an assortment of jazz and hip hop music plus a little dancing to burn off the burgers.

Happy birthday Debbz!
Hope you had a great time celebrating! x
